Canto 73

I went for lunch for a friend's birthday, this tasting menu was one of the most inventive menus I've had in a long while. The food was incredible, the wine pairings worked so well with the food and the service was perfect. I would highly recommend this place and it will certainly not be my last visit! Thank you so much!

I had a wonderful experience at Canto 73. We hired the whole restaurant for a pre-wedding dinner celebration. The ambience of the space was stunning. It was incredible to hire the whole space - and it felt so private and special. The food was gorgeous and the wine pairing wonderful. The chef came out and explained each dish, which had clearly been made with love. Lovely staff and great service. Thanks so much!

We used to go to Canto when it was located on Blackstock road, where the new Theo James restaurant is. Love the people, the food here is excellent (what I had attached), very spacious as well. Overall solid experience. Recommend highly, nice shop on Newington green. Also now apparently doing a pre fixe dinner

Loved everything about this place! Each of the 7 courses and 2 extras was flawless. Hamachi and rose petal crudo was unlike anything I've tasted so far. We really loved the combination of tastes, the fact that all of the ingredients were either locally foraged, or carefully sourced- with the chef finding creative ways to use up all pieces of each ingredient. All courses are served to the whole room at the same time, in quite an intimate atmosphere as the chef comes out to take us through the story and recipe of each course. We were even inspired to take some of ideas and try them out at home! We'll be definitely coming back to treat ourselves again when the menu changes.

From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The chef’s passion for his craft shines through in every detail, not only in the way the dishes are prepared but also in how he takes the time to share the story behind each ingredient and explain the process of creation with remarkable enthusiasm. This is without a doubt a place I will return to. The chef’s ability to transform passion into art on the plate is truly inspiring

A newish joint in Newington Green, as locals we tried Canto 73 in September 2025 on a glowing recommendation. The concept is terrific- somewhere between kaiseki and supper club, a tasting menu yet still informal and in an intimate yet unfussy space. Every course comes with a story addressed to the whole room, taking you into their food philosophy (built around foraging which we also love) and their network of community suppliers. Everything was set up for us to adore this spot, which is perhaps why we were a teeny bit disappointed with the food itself. There was plenty of creativity on each plate, and every dish was enjoyable. But there was only one dish that stood out and will stay with us (the stracciatella). There just wasn’t the depth and sophistication of flavour that I would expect at this price point. And there were a few dishes where the acidity was a little out of balance. Overall a very enjoyable dining experience but at this level you want a wow factor. We left wondering if the concept and story around the food is slightly eclipsing the food itself. Let the food do the talking.

Incredibly well-thought, interesting, delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. It's a supper club with a fixed starting time (7.30pm) and a fixed tasting menu (veg option available, which I got and thought was amazing!). Each dish is special (with lots of subtle fresh tastes and colourful presentation) without being overly complicated... the chef really managed to balance it well I think! I was not blown away by the wine pairing (which in fairness was cheap for the amount of wine!) but in no way that will stop me going back as soon as they change the menu (I assume every few weeks)! Great new addition to Newington Green.

Amazing food, the set menu served at the same time to everyone made it a really special experience: it felt like having dinner with friends. Very cosy environment. The chef clearly loves what he does and is excellent at it. I love the foraging and care taken on all ingredients. All staff were incredibly friendly. Wine pairing was fantastic. We loved it and will definitely go back!
